Growing Up

4+

When a child is growing slowly inside

The mother is always worried yet expectant

What and how much to eat and drink

Boy or girl, what name to decide

And the dad dreaming if he would have descendants

Both trying not to miss even a blink

Life is given but never truly taken. For we can’t create the already created. We kill but isn’t it just human of us?

When the baby is born, and the mother hears its first cry

Smiling in relief, when just before she thought she just might die

Dad smiles and also with relief releasing his inner sigh

Yet mum did the try

As the named child grows

Happy or sad mum and dad always knows

As the child’s desire to leave eventually shows

Mum’s pain is like she’s alone in the night surrounded by deaths black crows

Dad tries to keep his child

As this seems like a crime and he lives an eternal moment as time slows of

But the grown-up kid wants to run free and wild

So, the once helpless child happily goes

Leaving the now helpless old mum and dad

Sometimes it is that bad

Sometimes it is refreshingly enjoyable

And also, very sad

Some would force you to become completely mad

Convincing you that it’s YOU they own and had

Yet the love sometimes does stay

And the child does stay and try

Wiping your painful tears of age when you cry

Reminding them of when together you used to play

With you till you age and die

Visiting and praying for you, with a hopeful sigh

Life and death are a cycle, we will all meet again

Nothing lasts forever. It’s all just a ‘now’

  1. It’s really sad that one day we’ll be gone. We don’t know when or how. We just have to do the best we can to live healthily and happily for as long as possible. Insha’Allah.

    • Death is sad, especially when an illness takes someone you love. In this time of Corona, people are dying everywhere. So we should cherish what we have, before it’s gone. But having faith that Allah wills it, can give a peace in your heart. Pray and hope that we will meet our lost loved ones again. Who are never truly completely lost to us…
